The story of the ship that the Gravity Wave Riders set sail on from their home planet, aeons ago. Greed drove this race to reach out to the stars for energy resources, sacrificing the ship and crew to their fate. An evil presence waited in the dark. The crew survived and found new hope. The story of the Gravity Wave Riders will continue in the next album.
lyrics
Looking out we found the Vortex,
Flashing X-rays to hypnotise.
Gravity waves would tempt us all,
Our need to idolise.
So we set sell upon the waves,
Ship filled with dormant life.
We sailed for aeons of tedium,
A chosen few remained awake,
But when the Vortex laughed at us,
We knew we were betrayed.
The darkness drove us to the void,
But we were not afraid.
When there's not time or space to be,
How can we know what's even real,
Or what the hell is reality?
Perhaps we simply dream.
For somehow I can see,
All there has ever been,
From the forbidden tree,
To the birth of this infernal machine.
So we trust in our technology,
We know it's all we have left.
Our dreams have all been blown away,
Leaving us broken, bruised and bereft.
Our ship still rides the gravity waves,
And we have surely passed the test.
We survive this singular fall.
Returning to space and time we coalesce.
We find ourselves lost in space,
These stars a mystery.
What had our pride repaid us,
What hollow victory?
Would folly seal our fate,
To ride the waves for eternity?
The loneliness froze our hearts,
But we must set our sights,
On a new hope that we have found.
Someone out there has shone the light,
To guide us home at last,
And end this cursed flight.
